Dancer Code, Part 1
Safe
You may be thinking, “why would they want Safe to be in their Studio Code? It’s important, but why advertise it?”
We believe that the idea and meaning of safe is different to each person, so at Virginia Academy of Dance we focus on all the different definitions and scenarios for the word Safe.
Here are a few examples…
We want our dancers to be safe in their training, meaning that they take care and pay attention when they’re dancing to listen to their teacher so they don’t hurt themselves or others when trying a step or combo.
We also want them to be comfortable to talk to us about something that might be bothering them. Whether it’s related to dance or not.
We want parents to understand and be comfortable knowing that when their child comes to take classes at VAD that we take care of them like our own children.
All our staff members have a clean history, and work hard on paying attention to each child’s needs, and cares about them deeply.
VAD takes necessary precautions to make sure that emergencies don’t happen, and we have plans and procedures in place in case something out of our control does happen.
Our Team needs to feel safe that when they come to work feeling confident in the fact they’re more then staff members, they’re the heartbeat and inner workings at VAD. That they are important and loved.
We focus highly on maintaining safety and making sure that “safe” is the very first thing in all of the happenings at Virginia Academy of Dance.
Whether it’s a new program, event, team member, student, etc.
