Select Performance Fun!

It’s almost time for our Select Performance! The Select Performance is on February 25 and will be livestreamed on our Facebook Page at 3:00 EST.

We hope everyone will be able to tune in and watch! This is a free event that the staff, students, and families have worked hard to put together. The costumes are simple since the Spring Showcase is coming up in May, but this gives dancers another opportunity during the year to perform and learn!

Since Virginia Academy of Dance is an exam dance school, not a competition studio, this gives dancers more opportunities to perform in solos, duets, and trios. Normally in exams you perform as a group showing what you have learned. This way in the Select performance dancers can show off their dancing, performing, AND confidence in themselves and their abilities.

Dancers from Level 1 and up are allowed to participate, so we have a large and diverse group. We have a group number of some adorable 7-9 year olds all the way to some sophisticated high schoolers performing solos.

Not only does the Select Performance give the dancers many opportunities, it’s giving the teachers clearance to choreograph dances that they might not be able to do throughout a “normal” dance season.

With VAD’s location in Downtown Hopewell, Virginia we are close to the Fort Lee base, so with having the performance being live streamed this helps families who are from all over the world enjoy watching their dancer. It makes me wonder where all the people are watching from and their locations!

With all this being said, if you find yourself looking for something to do, make sure to tune in to our Facebook page (Virginia Academy of Dance) at 3:00 EST on February 25 and enjoy some entertainment! We have several different dance styles, lots of different music, and lots of different dancers!

Hope to see you tune in!
